I do broadly agree with you that gtv's are worth more than people including myself are asking; but it does beg the question: if their worth more than people are selling them for, why arent u buying them?
i think there's a disconnect between what owners think they're worth and what the market does. as you say, if they are not being bought at current prices then, by definition, they cannot be 'worth' more.
....................cheaply & there are always people seeking a bargain.
A low mileage rare 3.2 GTV should be one of the most expensive GTVs available but has a limited market, as do most 916s, & obviously will sell quicker if priced 'cheap' enough.....even to a dealer who is prepared to wait for the right customer. Where do you think we/I buy most of our cars/GTVs from?....private people who can't wait or can't be bothered with the hassle of selling to 'the public'. (this would include those part exchanged at other dealerships).
Selling cars is a lot about luck & not all about making a 'fast' buck.
How many times do we hear 'I would've bought that had it been now/still for sale/already sold my car etc etc.'
Likewise I hear from owners: 'I'm selling my car next week...I've got it advertised'.
Well dealers have their cars advertised all the time but don't expect to sell them all, if any, 'next week'.
private sellers' cars normally still need prepping for sale, as do some of mine but I'm prepared to finish them whereas most private sellers aren't so prices are lower. Paintwork is one of the things that let down private sellers' cars. Again I'm generalising so don't all shout at me quoting specific examples.
If you've got a really good sorted example hang on for the money. Although slow at the moment many of my customers have viewed lots of GTVs beofre buying one of mine....which are at the higher price end......I don't/can't make them buy them.... I have to wait.
