I knew the gearbox had an old leak, but while I had the passenger side wheel off today I noticed fresh oil under the lip of the front plate of the gearbox (well maybe side plate - it's the one that the guide about non selecting gears tells you to take off.
It's not enough to cause an oil stain on the ground under the car but it seems to have been there a while, the whole area is covered in old manky oil.
If I just get under there and top up the gearbox oil will that do to keep it going for now?
Is it likely to be anything else or simply the seal on that side panel?
I've got topping up the gearbox oil on my 'to do list' as the gearchange feels really rough, clunky and horrible.
