1200km on the autobahn at 100+
Back yesterday from Berlin, drove there and back in the Spider for a few days away. Just over 1200km and about 90% of it was de-restricted autobahn.
I found the natural happy speed of the Spider is about 155kph (90mph) but it was completely within its stride up to about 180kph (115mph ish) - above that the wind and exhaust noise was a bit too much for comfort but I did cruise for a fair distance at 190ish (120mph) and Vmax on the trip was just over 200kph (125mph) verified by GPS, there was maybe a little more left in it but traffic didnt allow.
Not bad for a 13yr old TS!
Average over the 1200km was just under 30mpg (not bad at all). Only negative points were that it desperately needs a 6th gear for the high speed cruise and the lowered suspension isnt really up to the autobahn - some of the bumps in the road REALLY hurt in the Spider and made me jealous of the locals in the big BMs and Audis.
Fun trip though.
