Whats going on there?
Recently I've been reading about how low GTV prices are falling in the UK. I can see many ads with well taken care V6s, low in mileage, with repairs history and many extras under 3k pounds. I'm Spanish, currently living in France and I've been moving around Europe a lot, living in different countries for the last 5 years. I've always liked cars so I've always dedicated a great amount of time to explore the car market wherever I was. UK has always been the cheapest in this matter, mainly because of the steering wheel side, but also because you are the best car passionates and the ones who buy more sport cars of all kinds. Usually the second hand cars there are around 40% cheaper than in Spain and 50% cheaper than in France but recently looks like you have all gone mad and now prices are really close to 70% cheaper. For example, an under 60k miles good looking V6 here in France is impossible to buy under 8k pounds and only if you are very lucky. Thats not only for GTVs, I'm currently looking for an S2000 for my mum and theres around 8K pounds difference with Spain! And economic crisis is at its best there. What I'm trying to say here is, dont give away cars thinking they are worthless. If you really need to sell them you should try breaking them for parts and putting them on ebay with international shipping. And if its just because they've become expensive to maintain stop expending money on them, cancel the insurance, find a nice cover and keep them to admire them once in a while. New cars are bull...., with some exceptions of course. Wherever I park my GTV I always try to find a modern car that looks better or sounds better than mine and I rarely find it. Think about it, if old Minis and Fiat 500s look beautiful now (the cheapest cars in their time) how amazing will Pininfarina's designs look in 30 years when all cars will be electric and plastic? I know I'll never sell my GTV, even if that costs me 5 months more of work to buy my next car. Maybe I'll have the money and in 2040 it will be perfect, running and shining like a 70s GTV Bertone does now. Maybe I wont and it will be a rusty Italian sculpture outside my house. In any case it will be more beautiful and worth much more than anything that I could buy right now with 3K pounds. Sorry for this, it made me so sad watching how easily you give away what I love that I had to cry a little bit. Have a nice summer all of you!!
