As mentioned, in my opinion and having owned both
, the GTV with aeropack is the better looking car but we all
know looks are subjective.
What I didn't like when I had the M3 was that sometimes I had to look twice at E46s to see if was an M3 or not. From the right angle the 19" wheels, flared arches, bonnet bulge and quads can look very serious, from the wrong angle it just looks like a 90's saloon/coupe
. I think all non M E46s look dated now, and the M doesn't look a million miles different from them. I think the GTV has dated incredibly well, it was drop dead gorgeous when it first came out and still looks special today if in good nick. Ultimately I prefer proper coupes rather than ones based on a family saloon, so I sold the M3 and got a Z4MC
As mentioned earlier, the two cars were aimed at different markets and fully specced they were £20k apart in price when new. Around a track or on a drag a standard M will cane a standard GTV; 220bhp plays 340bhp remember
Both are great motors and offer different experiences: with the M you get raw performance PLUS luxury and comfort, with the GTV you get a rare car which looks and sounds pretty damned awesome
Sorry, I know we all love our cars but really!?? 'Looks more dated' and someone else said 'in the real world' an M3 isn't much faster! I can't believe you can mean that in all seriousness!
