GTV hazard lights with a mind of their own
I just signed up to try to get some assistance. I bought a 1998 GTV 2.0TS a few months ago and it's been faultless up to this week.
I went to start it (after a few weeks lack of use) and it was totally dead. I tried charging the battery on the car and it was taking a lot of current and after 10 hours charging and an overnight rest it still only had 11V across the battery.
I removed the battery and recharged it; it then took a charge (12.8V) and starts and runs well. HOWEVER, there is an obvious electrical fault which is presumably what ran the battery down.
The car came to me with no alarm fob though it has the sensors and the manual for a Meta alarm in the handbook folder. It has an LED on the dash which flashes permanently whther the ignition is on or off.
When I reconnected the battery the hazard lights were flashing dimly when the switch was off. They would stop at random then restart after a few seconds. If you press the hazard switch they come on much more strongly.
If the hazards are off, opening the door and triggering the courtesy light brings them on.
I thought I may have disturbed some wiring when I had the radio out about a month ago but I can't see anything wrong in there.
It's currently sitting outside with no lights going, but for how long I couldn't say!
I'm well used to Italian electrics (I have a number of Ducatis and Cagivas) but can anyone suggest a likely source for my problems - a sticky relay, or a faulty alarm, or a short somewhere?
