GTV v6 has arrived!
Hello all, just wanted to say something! I finally got a GTV v6, a nicely sorted one. It's 11 years old and has been looked after very well, and I intend to do the same. I hope she treats me well :-).
After driving an Alfa 33 sportwagon many years ago, it's funny how many family traits (parts) from it I recognise in the GTV, like the driving column, indicator storks etc, but in a 'Lusso' guise. The same 'basic/family' engine noise is there, despite this now being a 3L with an extra rasp. It's such an enjoyable car to drive. It feels great to cruise at 70 as it does with spirited driving. Essentially it's like a luxurious go-kart with the basic things required for a 'touring journey' :-) It's also deceptively 'easy' to drive, but quite accurate when required and very personal. It's a great balance between comfort and performance, just what I want.
A few things that come with an 11 year old car, the interior creaks a little, a little squeek from 'behind' the dash board, aircon doesn't work. I am not really a mechanic, or have the options or desire to take it apart to fix, but am now an enthusiast and am likely to become good friends with Ned at AutoLusso! The suspension has been sorted and the next big 60 K service is done, so I can do some cosmetic stuff.
I have a few questions if anyone wants to comment:
Keeping her clean: Does the type of car washing fluid make a difference. Eg is AutoGlym worth the premium over the other brands?
Wheels:: I would like to get the teledials referbed, any recomendations in the Midlands area? Likely cost? Red Calipers need some paint. ( Brakes are quite soft really but have relatively new pads)
Exhaust:: I am tempted by a new exhaust. I think it's true that exhausts let the car breath a little more, getting a little more performance and sonorous appeal (right?). I am after something that gives a fruitier noise from the 3L v6..From previous posts and searching on YouTube, the Ragazzon springs to mind, I think the quad pipes are OTT ( for my requirements).. Are the dual pipes too much for longer cruising? Any other options like Larini?
Can places like AutoLusso/MotorMech in Brum order and fit these for me?
Touch up 'pens' for bodywork:: On my first weekend drive, of course I got some new stone chips on the bonnet..Are they available? Eclipse Grey colour.
