Hi there,

ill post up on the sale section. but needs must im seeling the gold cup that CG trading had on here.

the cars been resprayed (at Blakes in chichester) to correct the pain problems clive mentioned and had a few other minor things sorted since purchasing from clive (new battery, new ECU)

Im looking for 8500 or nearest offer. (car has to go, Selling because the car is hardly getting used)

message me if interested. Ill delay advertising on PH or AT or Ebay for 2 weeks for Alfa owners.

Reasonably confident first to see will buy (if theres any interest on the forum). When you see this thing in the flesh, you appreciate how special it is. You will be the only person on the road driving one in this color from the factory.

Car is located on south coast in chichester.

(PS shout out to clive. its been a pleasure owning this car. Perhaps ill be back for another GTV in the future!!!)

Stunning car and good luck, I think you'll need it at 8.5k! :)

National Alfa Day

Rarer & better than any Cup, IMO, it should be £10k.

E/seats, factory sunroof, quad pipes & Zoe Yellow really help to make this car special.

I'd take it to National Alfa Day, Basildon Park, July 17th (park it alongside the genuine Cups which are hoping to meet up) with a for sale sign on it. Which car will attract the most attention, not all the red ones I'm sure. :p:)

Edit:I might take my Cup-a-like with the white leather & park it amongst them as well.;)

I suppose you might (might) get the 1 in 1000 buyer who knows the rarity of the car etc and is happy to part with the $$$.

To most people the colour is polarising (I love it BTW), and all they will see is the increased asking price and the fact that you can get a nice regular V6 for a couple of K and a red cup for not much more. Like I say good luck, I love it!

Whats the exact history of the car?

#14 ·
IMHO a cup a like or a look a like with shed loads of money spent on it to look like a cup is pointless. If you are going to spend loads of dosh on a V6 then let the fact that it is a sorted V6 speak for itself, alternatively buy a cup and be done with it :)

I have never understood people who "mod" cars to look like something they are not - when I see M3 or S4lookalike I

My opinion only:)

Pointless or missing the point?

Your entitled to your opion, however wrong, but you are missing the point.:tut:

Are you saying the Zender body kit should only be fitted to genuine Cups? By adding the Zender bodykit(front spoiler, side skirts & 1/4 wings) to a GTV it just looks better IMO, like a Cup.

A pretend M3 doesn't have the M3 engine, the Cup's engine etc etc is the same as a normal V6 so unless sticking a Cup badge on the boot or a plaque on the dash no one is pretending it's a Cup. I've yet to see someone take out their leather seats & fit cloth seats to make the interior look like a Cup.

For advertising purposes adding the word Cup in the title attracts more potential customers but only using the word Cup on its own implies it's a real Cup which ruffled a few anoraks, so I use 'Cup Lookalike' rather than 'Cup body kit' in the title. Most people can then read the full description if interested.

Why people get so 'excited' over the use of the word Cup never fails to amuse me, they're only a red GTV V6 without leather for fecks sake.:p:cheese:

They do usually fetch more money though (but not enough to warrant trying to make exact replica copies) as they're very nice & a limited model.;)

lol! funny!....... to chip in or stay on the fence?............the cars worth what someone will pay for it.......theres a cup done 54k on ebay at the moment at £5750 looking at offers, so 8.5k is asking alot..........this is a one off and if someone wants it enough they will pay it.............. like ian lusso who paid £20k for his (stunning car & rare in his country)

me i would buy a cup but we are all different and this could be someones dream car they have been searching for

good luck with the sale

ding ding round 2!

yeh that generally is spill your cereal down the front of you amazing. <3

#21 ·
It is indeed a stunning car and if I was loaded, I would pay the money. the average punter? No he wont, he will pay alot less and get a similar car but it only takes one buyer, with money, who wants something a little different and it's sold.

Would love to see it in the metal one day, best of luck with the sale.

Clive why do you try to creat this war between Cups and replicas? Fact is if its a Cup its one of 155 made by Alfa Romeo (FIAT).

Now as nice as the yellow one is and as nice as your fake ones are they aren't the real deal and never will be. I'm bored of the lame Cup slating on here, i have dabbled with buying one for years now and would love the fact i owned one of only 155. The fact Clive sells fake ones for more than the real ones is amazing really, clearly theres enough idiots who get sold on the line "only half leather" but totally miss the point why its half leather.

Rant over...:p

They're not REPLICAS or FAKES!!!!!!!

TO PREVENT BAD DRIVERS FROM FALLING OUT OF THEIR SEAT AFTER ENTERING A CORNER(S) TOO FAST.:cheese:
You really do miss the point dont you, or maybe you just do this to fit in with your agenda. How the hell can you say a car which was made as celebration of the Italian Cup race series and also to add they made 155 in honour of Tarquini destroying all in the BTCC in a....155.

WHY THEN DID THEY MAKE A NUMBER OF SILVER TS CUPS?

How you can think that means nothing is beyond me as its smacks in the face the nature of the LE car. From LE Ferraris to an LE Vauxhall Chevette It does mean more to have the real thing!!

THE REAL THING IS THE GTV(preferably a V6) UNDERNEATH NOT THE LIMITED SUBTLE CHANGES THAT DENOTES A GENUINE CUP.

The reason Alfa did nothing to the engine was cause they did little to the Busso engine full stop....its a thing of genius and beauty...why mess with it?

A LOT OF PEOPLE ON HERE ARE TRYING TO GAIN EXTRA BHP & IT WOULD'VE MADE THE CUP THAT EXTRA BIT SPECIAL:p

On an Alfa enthusiast site i'm amazed at some of the GTV Cup bashing.
Please read my answers in bold above.

It's because of exactly your above statements that I wind people up.

Most of my Cup-a-likes I've bought with the Zender body kit already fitted, in fact all of them have had at least 2 out of the 4(including the boot spoiler) already on, I've only ever added a pair of side skirts to one & 1/4 wings + a boot spoiler to another.

So it seems there are a lot of people who like to add the Zender parts to make their GTV 'LOOK LIKE' a Cup.

I genuinely like GTV/Spiders, especially the Cup:thumbs:, but when people get a bit too precious & start throwing their toys out of the pram about using the word Cup in an advert or even daring to say there's a better GTV than a Cup out there...I react, but it's meant tongue in cheek-some people don't seem to have a sense of humour sometimes.

I also think you've missed some things I've posted saying how much I like the Cup....did I mention I have 2 genuine Cups for sale at the moment?

I think we're pushing it a bit to suggest that 'replica' and 'look-a-like' aren't interchangeable. Surely a look-a-like cup has had modifications to 'replicate' the look of a cup? Frankly, if it's called a 'Cup-a-like' then you're asking for trouble.

Back to the car - beautiful, stunning, has all the right bits, but is not an Alfa-sanctioned limited edition, no matter how rare it is.

Definition of replica...

'A replica is a copy that is relatively indistinguishable from the original'.

Clearly 'Lookalikes' or 'Cup-a-likes' are not replicas & not trying to be either.

Gold Cup, as I christened it, although not an official limited production model was built by Alfa, is rarer than a Cup & most, if not all, other colour 3 litre V6 GTVs.

It's low mileage, low ownership, full history, high spec & a beautiful colour is why it has a high(er) value.

I always love these threads:lol:

Putting aside for a moment the 'Cup' and 'Cup-Look-A-Like' arguments, members should remember that the Zender body kit used for the GTV Cup could be specified for fitment to all 916 GTVs AND Spiders from the factory from the 1999 Accessories brochure. That's right, it was available to UK customers before the availability of the UK GTV Cups.

In the case of the OPs yellow GTV, I believe Clive (and this was discussed in the previous thread) that this GTV was originally specified in this colour and specification by the first owner from the factory, who was serving in BAOR Germany at the time, and so could also specify RHD for options not available in UK. This was a common occurence at this time in forces personnel in Germany, as serving personnel received preferential tax rates on car purchases, and could therefore also import back to UK at better rates than others.

It is not, therefore, a 'modded' GTV. It came like this new from the factory, and as Clive says is quite unique, (most probably the only specification in this colour ever made from the factory in RHD), and imho worth the asking price.

Class :)

It still beats me why some people are so up their own backside they think their Cup is a better or different car to a "standard" V6 GTV. It is exactly the same car with some trim detail differences. It is not a different car, period.

Clive's "Cup a likes" are GTV's with the aero bodykit, which was available as a dealer/ self fit option. A technically correct description would be a GTV with aero body kit, but getting the word Cup in the description is clever marketing. Certainly hooks lots of people on here :cheese:

I've seen several of Clive's GTV's and the GTV with aero body kit and white leather is a stunning car. The black interior trims, white leather and red paint are an eye catching combo and it looks more "speical" than the cloth/ part leather seats in the Cup.

All that makes the Cup a Cup for the purists out there is:
1) the body kit (still readily available second hand, with new replica bumpers/ splitters from a nice man in Tamworth)
2) a black ashtray lid (full ashtray assembly £33 +VAT new)
3) black surrounds on the speedo/ rev counter with a silvery trim (available new I believe)
4) some cloth on the lesser stuffed seat. Find a nice upholsterer...
5) a plaque, easily found on internet. Simply engrave with a number not listed at the front of the Cups thread and not many people will be any the wiser... ;)
6) paint colour on the rims. Visit Lepsons in Kent for a perfect match.
7) Er... have I missed out anything?

As for Gold Cup, it is a stand out car, I think it will find a new home at or close to the asking price. If I had the space, the money, and wasn't busy trying to talk myself out of a 1972 Giulia Coupe then I'd be tempted myself...

N.B. what's the source for the claim of the 155 cars being built being linked to the 155 BTCC winning car? I do not recall this being in any of Alfa's press literature of the time, and was also pretty sure the build was to be 150, but was upped to 155 as their was a little more demand. After all why would you turn away a perfectly good sale when all you need is a bit more cloth for seats...

Differences

Cheers for that.:)

Point 7) The mirror switch surround is also black(a la P3), the centre dash is a darker 'Titanium' colour, an extra leather lower door panel, the headlining + pillar covers are a darker mottled grey( they look lighter in my photos) & the all important Cup badge(no longer available) on the boot.

I also doubt their is any truth in the 155 connection, just a coincidence IMO.

Since the BTCC winning car was in 1994, and the 'Cup' was released well before this, I didn't think it had anything to do with this or Tarquini whatsoever:lol:

#48 ·
cups super cups I think your all mugs:eek:

the phase three 3.2 is better than all of them built by pininfarina faster lower bigger wheels and looks better
