edited. Everyone knows dealers make no profits on cars and do it for the love.

Profits and all
There you go ....Tigertown
Permission could you remove my post from your reply as i discussed with Clive that my post gave away the car traders biggest secret that know one knew about!! Dealers make profits on cars.
If only it was as easy as everyone thinks, some you win some you lose...that's life.
The unseen costs include vat @ 20% from the gross profit margin, that's £166.66p per £1k, then income tax from 23% upwards if you should make any profit at year end.
Then theres premises rent, trade insurance-mines currently £4k pa-, advertising etc etc.
There's the obvious car preparation costs: cambelts, suspension, paintwork can be a biggie, services, mots+mot work etc etc.
Then there's the little Alfa quirks: airbag lights, c/locking, damaged door panels, dent removal, mafs, top engine mounts...to name just a few.
Try doing this specialising in our beloved 916 GTV & Spider range & see how easy it is.
I didn't/don't have to specialise in these cars but it was my choice. The grief I get from some of you guys makes me think I should change to another marque.
