When we bought (swapped for a 147) the V6 it came with a private plate that had to be returned to the previous owner. As our plate is only 6 digits long I had short (but legal) plates made up and decided to see if the offset look would work with a smaller plate.
Unlike the blue twinny, there was no number plate backing plate and the plate was just screwed directly onto the bumper. It looked okay but not quite finished.
This is the result. I made up a backing plate using black HDPE sheet which was screwed to the bumper and then I stuck the plate on with trim tape. HDPE is easy to work with but I have concerns that the double sided trim tape might not stick properly. Next time I will use a different plastic!
I am quite happy with the end result (still to fill and paint the screw holes on the bumper from previous plates)
