Clutch gone!! NOT GOOD!!

I was driving to work today and had trouble getting into all gears, I thought that i would try and get to work in 3rd gear but a lorry was in front of me and had to slow down and change gear, unfortunately i could not get it into gear so i pulled over. I tried to put it in gear and it sounded like a bag of nails so i take it my clutch has gone, I had troulbe getting it into reverse for months so should of thought about this before. The AA man said cos i can get the gear lever in all gears when the engine is off it maybe just the clutch plate? Coud anyone advise me on the problem with the info i have supplied. Also potential prices for repair?

Either your thrust bearing has gone or you had what I had in my 155 (same clutch kit) where a spring fell out the friction plate and jammed between it and the pressure plate. With no working clutch I still managed to drive from Northampton to South London and go to the Ace Cafe for a meet I can change gears without the clutch though. But stopping for traffic was a challenge as the M1 roadworks was in full swing dropping to 1 lane many times.
