bespoke GTV spider exhaust
Underneath my little spider are two transverse silencers, one tail silencer/spark collector and another mysterious box immediately after the cat. A wonder Alfa couldn't squeeze more in.
The whole system needs replacing, right now the last two items in the chain are redundant as the pipe has rusted completely after the first transvers box so I have quite a sporty sounding car, The embarrassing type of sporty sound which makes you not want to enter the petrol station for fill-up.
But it's tolerable and if the sound came out the back instead of the middle (under my ***) It wouldn't be so bothersome.
So to save money permenantly, I'm going to eliminate as many of these boxes as possible by building my own systen using ready available pipes, bends, and flexy's. I think I'm going to retain the last two boxes, eliminate the first transverse box and the small box by the cat. If not, I'll eliminate the second transverse box instead. I had been tempted to run a pipe the full length to an off the shelf silencer at the rear but decided, on driving around semi exhaustless, it would be toooo noisey.
Having read a load on the internet it appears fact that the main component supplying the right gas pressure is the cat itself so I don't expect engine problems - who knows. There's a lot of misinfo out there of course.
Has anyone taken on a similar venture??? Does anyone know the function of the first inline box by the cat???? Kindly, R
