There are not many cars out there that make peaople stop dead in there tracks as you pass lift there arms in the air and shout whow ALFA ROMEO!
It happened to me yesterday morning
I was driving up the lane from a B road to the the juction of main A road yesterday morning with the window down and the weather was sunny. As i left the junction an old gentleman was walking down the path to the side of the main raod and as I set off he looked at the car raised his hands in the air and shouted wow alfaromeo (like the whow you shout when stopping a horse
) As i passed him i papped my horn and gave him a wave
Because his obvious enthusiasm i decided to turn around and go have a chat with him I pulled up wound the window down and asked him
"are you a fan?"
"Am I a fan ,oh yes" he replied in an old mans steady and thoughtful voice
"In 1959 I worked for a chap in leeds who bought a brand new alfa sprint speciale ,it had a 1.3l engine with an aluminium bertone designed body and it was an absolutley beautiful car and it cost £3900.00 pounds then in 1959. When i saw you coming up the road i thought wow an alfa romeo and it took me straight back to the sprint and i havent seen an alfa as special as that one since i saw yours today.I thought thats an alfa and thats a special car... beautiful"
We chatted for about ten mins or so I showed him the engine bay which as everyone knows with the busso is as beautiful as any of the bodys on any alfa. He commented on the pininfarina design badge and just kept saying thats special.
You dont get that reaction from many if any other marque
