hi guys, ive a 98 gtv the wipers wont turn off.I removed the steering cowling and all the stalk connections can be removed but it still stays on and i changed the wiper motor itself.Only way to stop it is remove the fuse.Ive also swapped relays.Obviously its getting a current when it should not.Ive looked at the fusebox were they prone to failure?
swapped relays in fusebox are there others.I knew which relay in the fusebox it was cos when unpluged wipers stopped but the other relays when fitted did not solve my fault.
Sounds like a bad earth? .........Power still going to motor and switch turned off!?
Seymour, you did clean/shine the electrical spades before connecting back to loom? I find if the spade contacts are blue/grey, you get all sorts of issues with wipers, so a bit of emery paper and a dib of dialectic grease and see if that sorts your problem?
Yes there is the N14 relay unit (actually 2 relays in a box), which is hard to find (search the forums)... Its not on the fuse board, its behind the fuse board.
If one of these relays has failed closed I think the wipers will stick on
I really thank you for your input.I often type into google a fault but it seldom shows all the threads as posted here.It was the relay i knew i was going in the right direction cos as i unbolted it about half a cup of tea dribbled out of n14 relay unit.Something i would never have found (easily) WITHOUT YOUR INPUT SO CHEERS ONCE AGAIN.
Nice job, well done! I think I might drill a hole in the bottom of mine
