All that these bars are doing are providing a means to reduce the twist in the chassis.
Now that can be good, and it can be bad, yes it is true when you have a spider you have flex in the chassis due to there being no roof, but i dont think that Alfa Romeo omitted anything in the spider design.
That is where some of the suspension inovation in the 916 makes it stand out.
Yes if you are racing and want to spend £400 adding stiffness then go ahead and do it, but for a road application where our wonderful roads are full of potholes, and poorly reparied sections i would rather spend the money on tangible upgrades like powerflexing the suspension and a good set of tyres, that to me is money well spent.
Whilst these stiffening bars look good i think they would have limited life on British roads IMHO....
