Guess thats me.
Funny story! saw it on Ebay and noticed there was a fair bit of interest and thought that if I left it to the week end it was sure to go, so impulsively got a train from Bristol to Seven Kings, in Essex with 3k in pocket, Charming guy met me at the station and we went for a test drive, on a dual carriageway he floored the fast pedal and it took off only to die on him, he called his wife to take me back to the station but I decided to hang on for the AA man who tried every diagnostic in the book but could not get it started, eventually he gave up and towed us to a back street Alfa specialist who was closing in five minutes, the head mechanic (old school Italian proprietor) opened the bonnet, grunted in disgust at the non standard air flow system and unplugged it, the car started, on the way back to his home the car died again so we called the Alfa man and he said to disconnect the AFM, and leave it disconnected, and that should get me back to Bristol. Spent a bit of time on his home computer and arranged the insurance then completed the vulgar part of the transaction and set off back to Bristol, heavy traffic on the M25 but it ran like a dream, even though the injector warning light was constantly on. Called the seller to say I was back and he sounded very relieved.
Also called the dealer who sold it and he recommended a cam belt change so went to Alfaholics in Clevedon who directed me to the guys at Bridgend Motor works who did the belt and tensioners at a very reasonable price along with a proper Bosch AFM, it now seems to have been a good buy.
