After painting with the powerflex bushes fitted and copper greased. I'm a little annoyed by the orange peel effect in the paint but it is the first time I've ever used an air spray gun and the paint I used, even thinned to the maximum permitted level was still quite thick and gloopy. I need to look into getting it right before I use the stuff again.
I didn't powder coat them for various reasons. Instead I used Epoxy Mastic 121 two part paint. Practical Classics is currently doing a long term test with this stuff alongside some others like POR15. The advantage of this paint over powder coating is that if the paint is breached, it'll only rust at that point and will not spread owing to the way the paint bonds to the metal. This is unlike powder coating which will allow the rust to spread and the powder coating will then typically split.
It's quite difficult getting paint inside the arms but I did manage to get some in there. The arms will have Waxoyl or Dinitrol ( I haven't decided which yet ) injected inside through the three large holes ( two below and one on top ) after they've been fitted to the car.
