Zender Siena - fake bolts removal and centre caps
I have a set of the Zender Siena 17" wheels for my GTV/916, but they require refurbishment. Despite of the bolts around the circumference of these wheels, the wheels are actually one piece - the bolts are for cosmetic purposes only. However, I would (of course) before the refurbishment like to remove these star type "fake" bolts, as the bolts should not be painted, but remain with their "stainless steel" finish.
However, I am not sure wether the bolts are actually threaded, so that it is possible to screw out the bolts, or wheter they are glued or in some other way fastened to the alloy wheel material. I have actually tried carefully to remove one of the bolts (tried to rotate it), and it actually moved slightly, but with much "squeeek" sound. It didn't seem to loosen up noticeably. I am afraid to destroy the bolts/wheels, so have yet not tried to move it any further. Any of you who can help - do you know for sure if the bolts are actually threaded or if there is any other procedure to be followed to take them out?? Bear in mind that I would also like to re-install them after the wheels have been refurbished (blasted & painted).
Secondly, I am looking for replacement AlfaRome badged centre caps for these wheels - they seem to be 60 mm, rather than the more standard of late 90s Alfas 50 mm. Do any of you know whether the centre caps of the later 159 or Giulietta wheels will fit here? As far as I have found out, the standard 159 allow wheels centre caps are 60 mm diameter.
Thanks for any advice!
