it was going well, at first i thought it was something minor the battery had been playing up and wouldnt start then a week or so later the spider just died. got worried when the aa man couldnt start it and he though the belt had slipped. so had a play on the drive not really knowing what i was doing and found all the spark plug wells full of oil, and the ht leads had seen better days! so clean out, replaced plugs replaced coil packs, replaced cam seal and it started.....although you've hurd the vid
so removed the belts, took out cams, inspected valves (all sat nicely)
then dropped the sum (nightmare) and found the shell was like this on piston 1
so was thinking new camshaft and shells and was happy i had found the problem
then i tried to remove the head and the bolts around piston 1 just kept spinning no thread
so now looking for a replacement engine or bottom end if i can somehow get the head off
even if i replace the engine, still going to change the head gasket, shells, belts, variator, waterpump etc so ongoing
but before i had my spider i could just about change a tire
and now i enjoy working on it and have learnt alot, the advise on this forum is second to non!
sound like you got a good deal on the pick up, whats the company called? im thinking of having my spider taken over to my parents house in newark (they got loads of space/double garage) and my drive's on a hill.........i get abit paranoid when i jack the car up
when they delivering it?
