New engine or not?
My car (2.0 twin spark) is now coming up to 110,000 miles and will soon be needing a cambelt service. The variator also needs changing and I figured it would make sense to do the water pump at the same time. The engine management light has been coming on recently, so I'm guessing that something else is also on the way out...
I am guessing that this is going to end up costing best part of a grand at an Alfa specialist, so I thought given the mileage the vehicle/engine, would I be better off spending a bit more and getting a reconditioned engine.
According to Autolusso's website, a new engine would be £1500 fitted. I don't know whether they would give me anything for my existing engine which actually runs OK.
What do you guys think? Expensive service or new engine?
