hi guys, i have taken the advise given on my last post (thanks
) and taken off the aux belt and balance belt so i can have a good look at the cambelt, i ordered my cam locks and they were ment to arrive today but didnt
but not a wasted day
i have found two things that i think might be my problem with the knocking noise seen in my previous post (tractor sound)
first is in this pic, the pulley wheel at the bottom of the cambelt has broken and im thinking this might have thrown the timing out as it twists very easy on the broken side? i will hopefully know tomorrow for sure
second, when i was turning over the engine by hand, with a screwdriver in piston one for the timing (prepareing for the arrivel of my cam locks) i found that the clonking noise was still happening when turning over by hand, i pushed down on piston one with the screwdriver and its loose and clanks? the other three pistons dont so im guessing this is my problem or one of them.
im just glad ive/we've found something
sorry if the terminology is wrong as you can probally tell i've not done anything like this before
but with the help of my dad its going well and im really enjoying it and learning so much at the same time
so to check the piston is it better to take of the head or drop the sump? im guessing drop the sump? also how would i replace the broken pully?
