I bought my GTV last week, and decided to join in on the forum - there seems to be a wealth of knowledge and lots of friendly people about!
I posted that I'd been noticing an intermittent hesitation problem around 4-5k on the rev range, and the replies seemed to suggest it was most likely a fault with the MAF. Before I went ahead and dumped £££ on a new MAF, I was told you can test for the fault by disconnecting it, and taking it for a spin, (the ECU falling back on preset values instead of taking readings from the MAF sensor), and if there's a difference then it's the MAF.
Also, the car's going in for an (overdue) cambelt service next week. Should I expect to notice any difference in performance, or is it just a necessary replacement to prevent it dying?
However, I'm a mechanical newbie and I'm not sure how to fiddle with the MAF. I'm a keen learner, and I enjoy getting my hands dirty
Is there a member out there who can spend a couple of minutes to describe how to disconnect it, and in fact, what it looks like? I'm good at doing things once I know how
