The deal was all in place for this Saturday but has hit a snag. The gtv is showing on HPi as having been written off ( Cat D) in May 2000 whenit was 14 months old!
Current owner has no knowledge of this but previous owner to him had mentioned that it had once been stolen. It is not on the stolen cars register so at least that is not a problem.
I am not too worried about the car itself as any serious repairs from 2000 would have failed by now if done badly. I am more concerned about Cat D status and the problems that would create if I ever decided to sell. Some websites suggest a 20% decrease in value for Cat D cars. Would stolen recoved vehicles be the same?
Any advice welcome. If anyone else is looking to swap their v6 gtv for a straight 2004 147 jtd Lusso 5 door in Inca Blue with light grey leather (69K miles, new MoT, timing belt just done) let me know. Distance not a problem.
