I've searched previous threads but still need advise please.
2002 with drop down windows but I don't think the 'drop down' operation's at fault, it just causes added confusion.
Checked all fuses, changed & checked all switches(tested/swapped with another GTV), driver's door panel off & motor unplugged.
Prior to refitting this plug I could hear the window ecu, which is behind the glovebox, 'clicking' when pressing the passenger switch up or down but no window operation.
Refit the plug to the driver's motor & after a few seconds another light clicking starts from the motor which starts to get hot. Check the feed & there's a constant live to the motor, white/green wire from memory. Connect a battery direct to the motor & it does the same, not a lot!
I also heard the ecu click when pressing the driver's switch at times but not consistently.
I've not taken the passenger door card off yet but I expect I'll find the same.
Can a faulty window control ecu cause both motors to fail?
I've seen where it is but how do I get to it to replace it before fitting another couple of motors which I don't want to damage like the exisiting ones? Edit: Presumably by removing the glovebox?
Also what triggers the drop down? Is it the same 'switch' that operates the interior light & if so where is it, in the door catch?
I've only got the earlier wiring diagrams & I'm no auto electrician!
Any help appreciated.
Edit:Both windows are FULLY closed, how do I get them & the motor/window regulators out as I can't lower the windows to undo all the mountigs etc?
