Just done a whole revamp, kyb shocks and eibach springs all round, plus droplinks all round, front wishbones and trackrod ends, hard going!
If I did it again I would make sure I had all the bits needed for the front struts, bumpstop, gaiter, top cup thinggumy, and the metal spacer that goes between the bumpstop and the top mount, to avoid having to split the old struts. Horrible job! In the end I compressed the springs and chopped off each (uncompressed) end of the springs and twisted them off, then ground two flats onto the shaft and clamped it in a BFO vice.
Found the rears very easy, mainly because they have been apart a few years ago to do the spring pan bushes, cups and bumpstops and all the rubber bits were fine. Second side took ~2hrs with droplinks and a lick of paint on the spring pans.
Fronts are much harder going, second side took 5hrs, including removing a seized trackrod adjuster nut.
The only casualty was one of the strut to hub bolts, managed to damage the thread because it wasnt *quite* lined up and got a little hasty with the hammer
Anyone got one of these? Its the same as on the balljoint pinch bolt, M10, 15mm head. Is replaced with a temporary nut n bolt, but it looks a little bodged
One thing I noticed was the new rear eibachs were longer than the old springs, and looked different to the pic posted by Alex (euroboy), more regular coil spacing. Fronts looked vaguely the same, and no idea if they were the same length as I chopped up the old ones
New ones were definitely red too!
