MOT failure - Handbrake adjustment, i thought it was so simple!
Car failed the MOT last week on "parking brake lever has no reserve travel 3.3.6b", no problem i thought so i took it home tightened it up a bit at the lever all seemed fine so i put it back in. Failed this morning though on "service brake efficiency below requirements 3.7.A.9 **DANGEROUS**" Which apparently translates to them being out of balance, with one side binding. Garage quoted £95 for inspection and reset.
So i jacked it up, removed wheels, loosened cable right off at lever and detached each end of the cables at the caliper, no problem. However after a clean and inspection of everything i can only reattach one side of the cable as the other is just too tight even with it slackended off all the way.
Any advice on reconnecting the cables and also can i adjust one side at a time to enable me to balance them properly?
Or indeed any other tips,
