She just begs to be ragged...

I've had my GTV for over a month now and it's used as my daily car (and only car). I do about 50 miles a day Mon-Fri, and then a few miles at the weekend going out and about.

Last night, I went to the supermarket quite late and rather than go the most direct way through a housing estate and with bloody speed bumps, I went the longer, faster route where I can open the car up.

All I can say is, the car just LOVES to be ragged. You feel as if it wants you to take it to the redline and encourages you to push it. As the throttle response is so crisp, it is a pleasure to suddenly bring the power in. It is like a nutty little dog wanting to run after a bone!

What Alfas have above any other car I have driven, is that they make you feel alive. They are not the quickest or the best handling out there, but the interaction between the driver and the car is second to none (for a 'normal' manufacturer...I accept that there are other cars that are better in this respect.. Caterham etc!).

As cars become more remote feeling as advances in sound deadening and isolation of the driver from the mechanicals continue, I am glad to say my GTV is the complete opposite.

I agree that more modern cars remove the driver from the driving experience - which is sad

If you think the V6 GTV is bad at making you want to hoon it everywhere try a GTA!

Agree with you on this. As James May said "it want's to be driven"
Booting it round big roundabouts staying in 2nd gear is fantastic.
It's like it's on rails.
Reminds me of a Mk1 MR2.

GTV 2.0

I drove quite a few hire cars last year including a Renault Megan sports coupe, VW golf, Pug shopping trolly, Audi A4 and FIAT Bravo...

The most fun by far was the 1.6 petrol FIAT! It felt like it wanted to go and you could enjoy it. The others were so so boring, especially the golf. But the others were so well made and put together that the FIAT felt kind of tacky inside.

And my GTV is better than all of them :-)

My GTV doesn't feel right just cruising. I feel I should be up it all the time. Obviously, I can't do that because I'll lose my license very fast.
