Jamie, thats the single most worst thing you could possibly do, not only are you getting water into the door panel (more than rain would) and possibly causing more damage to the solenoid, you are putting more water in there ready to freeze over the next day!
short term fix, use the tried and tested silicone spray in the locks and in the door panel, this needs topping up every few days during the cold weather. DO NOT USE WD40..this will perish the rubber seals in the door, use a good quality silicone spray only.
long term, strip the door and coat the solenoids and inner lock mechanisms in a light coating of silicone grease. this will last an entire winter.
