916 Spider Battery Compartment Clips

The clips that hold the battery compartment lid closed on my 1998 Spider are broken. Net effect is (another) rattle. Any suggestions where I can source replacements or an alternative soloution?

cwood01, are these the clips that the lock releases? Same problem with one of mine and it didn't look like they could be replaced but ready to stand corrected on this as it means a permanent fix

Sounds like the same ones. They are riveted to the compartment cover. Without these the compartment rattles away unless I place a weight on it. Have managed to remove the cover & drill out the rivets. I am looking at using a metal glue to repair them

Just to resurrect this thread. Both my clips were broken so I enquired at my local Fiat/Alfa dealer. They have ordered the two clips and connecting bar for a very reasonable 17.98+vat.

Odd how you find these threads when something similar has happened (I was not looking either).
The clam shell would not release last night at all. Even the manual buttons behind the driver's seat would do nothing. It turned out to be 'tap the motor with a hammer' fault. Never had that happen before. Tried a few times since and it seems good. In fact it is sat out in the car park at work with the roof down. Here's hoping if it rains it will go up again without a hammer .

Anyway I digress, as I noticed that the door you mention has two clips not just one. Mine would rattle quite a bit. The little spring tongue that latches on was being restricted by the locating lug. Bent the lug away and it now clips on both sides. I assume at point I will need a new one.

Priorities I find, are usually someone else's.
Statements above are all my own opinion and not fact.
