So I have owned the GTV 2.0 T.S for just over 3 months and have had no end of faults but one that is really getting on mines and my Alfa guys t**S is the below.
Everything is fine car running as it should not faults when out for a random drive but when I jump back into it the eng light comes on and it won’t let me rev over 3000rpm, so changing the gears very fast up to 60mph then FLAT??? Wont go any faster even able to push the peddle to the floor.
This goes on a few times then just out the blue I can rev over 3000rpm but the engine light is still on, a few more trips in the car and the light is off and everything back to normal.
This goes on and on and on and on and on ECT
Alfdag shows up sensor fault and low compression, so my Alfa man has changed the 02 sensor the fuel cut of switch and another few £60 sensors. Only one left to change and it’s the crank senor getting done at the end of the month and as you all seem to know the belt also gets done in this job (£360 job).
After reading on this a few things have jumped out at me and does anyone have any ideas, the following are possible faults yet to be fixed.
The temp never seems to go over 60 at all regardless of how hard I spank her.
My clutch release barring needs done but I don't see how this can have anything to do with the above issues.
My oil cap has gunk in it but I don't think this is the gasket because if I cant get the car to run hot then theirs sure to be water left in their mainly due to all this snow we have had? (He says in hope)
Some pics of the gunk in the oil cap (not found it inside the head or on the dipstick) and the temp reading after a hours drive to Glasgow so it should really be hotter than this no?
Thanks in advance for you help.
Also found out today when overtaking on the M8 (stuck behind a white van man) so I pulled out quite fast in 4th and kicked the car right up to 80mph and the bloody eng light came on? still revs over 3000rpm on the M8 then I get to ware I was going and turn the car off for no more than 10 min and started her back up to find I cant rev over 3000rpm, (took the long way home rather than the M8 at 60 max speed lol)
