No, if the switch in key is faultly, then I would suggest that the light in the key would not illuminate as well.
The LED on the dash indicates to you that the alarm should be armed, it does not illuminate when the alarm is DISARMED. You could try to sit in car, arm your alarm and open a door, the alarm should sound.
The card that you have is for 2 things. The 5 digit code is for the emergency start procedure (very complicated), if the car becomes immobilised, (DO NOT LOSE), in the UK, we were not issused with this code card. The 4 digit code are for reprogramming the your keys to the alarm, I think.
For your info the alarm and immobiliser systems are completely independent systems. Alfa refer to the imobiliser as the CODE system.
