Went to open the car using the fob, the doors unlocked then locked again instantly so had to press the fob and open the door quickly, now the fob will immobilse the car but wont lock the doors.
It was pretty frosty this morning but has warmed up abit and still have the problem. Was hoping it will be a simple resync or something but from reading other posts could be worse..
I have only experienced this exact problem when the frost has made solid the actuator that operates to lock and the pin in the top of the door, once thawed my issue went away, Was all frost related, Things break though if its powered and frosted solid quite delicate these actuators.
since i drown the whole thing in silicone spray winter has never caused me exact same problem.
The locks may just be 'out of sync' - try locking and unlocking the doors manually with the key for one 'cycle', and then try your fob while having your fingers crossed - will probably work.....!!
was in the same boat this morning...this is my sequence to fix (done three times now)
1: press in driver button and press alarm fob and pull door open when it pops up
2: spray antifreeze in the lock to break up the ice, do the same on the pass side
3: once the pass side is open the locks will be out of sync and wont lock using the fob.
4: press fob to lock the car then manually use the key to lock the doors.
now when you press the fob button all will be back to normal...
make a trip to halfords and buy a can of SILICONE oil spray and pump loads in the locks, wind the windows down and pump some inside the door card near the lock end and also spray some on a clean soft cloth and wipe it round all the window seals at the top.
all will be good for a few days now keep topping up every few days and you should not have any problems.
remember to drown it for the 1st aplication then 2 weekly extra doses in much smaller quantity going forward, sisnce i been doing that no embarasment on the driveway and its worked all the way down to-17 we had recently
Also you have to remember to coat the rubber seals at the top of the glass as you can tear them pulling a door open.....did that at the beginning of the cold spells.
yeah i siloconed all my rubbers, once you become a convert to this silicone spray i went balistic on it, now i can enter the car easy and also the glass seperates easy from the rubber seals too
Silicone spray has been grate this winter on my GTV just mind not to leave it in the boot as that can freeze too as I found out this week trying to lock the car.
I find that once in the car if I pull up both locks and press them down again then use the fob it seems to sort itself.
