Hi Guys,
The Mrs wants to start planning for a family:rolleyes:

Unfortunately at some point this year I will be selling the Gtv to hopefully another fan:cool:
I'm just wondering if you guys can give a guide price on what I could achieve, I'll spec up the car so you can get a picture
It's a late 98 Ph 2 in Proteo Red, Bodywork will be imaculate as i've now decided to spray it at the end of the month instead of Vinyl wrapping it.
It's got a full service book stamped by alfa and has also had 6 month check ups in between (Full service history) i'm the first male owner, the prev 2 were lady owners, It has a Clifford Concept Cat 1 alarm installed with all the features, it will also do remote start, wind the windows down, headlights on etc but i've never had that part setup!
Cam belt & variator were replaced at 60k, it has only covered 72k as of today, New gearbox fitted as the previous one lost the second synchro, I've also replaced the MAF, Thermostat, Slave cylinder, discs, pads, I've also just replaced the 2 rear lower arm bushes with powerflex versions, The car passed it's MOT with no advisories 2 weeks ago, I also gave it an oil service as i tend to do it every 2000 miles or 5 months if i can,
It has 18 x 225 x 40mm Bella GT rims on there with 2 continental contisport 3's on the front and 2 generic Marshall tyres on the rear, The interior is spot on, i've done a few mods including installing a full Vibe Slk sound system with uprated 200watt tweeters in the doors aswell as the carbon 130mm speakers in the door card, You'll know if you've seen my previous posts about it, It also has an MEX-BT3600U bluetooth head unit to power it all, i use it with my HTC HD2 for sat nav & music for the cruise!
The interior is also Momo Red Lusso interior, this includes door cards, carpet and seats, the seats are minty mint as i had the Bolster checked over and repaired by a friend in the trade.
All in all, a very sound car, The only Engine mod it's had done is adding a K&N induction kit, i had a BMC unit on there but didn't like the sound as much as the k&n!!! (It has a lovely bark sound when opening up)
It's not been ragged about, I use it to commute at 60mph every day from stockbridge to winchester so i cover 30 miles per day.

I just hope somebody can give me a heads up!
If you're wondering what car we're getting, Its an X-Type Jag, Her choice! But i do quite like the V6 sound plus they seem to have good safety features for children and good MPG!

Once the Baby's settled in, i'll be putting money to the side for a 3.2 V6 GTV:p

Petrol V6 Jag? 2.5? My mate had it in the S-Type, sold it cos it hardly ever did more than 20 to the gallon :(

S type is heavier though.
I've got a 2.7 twin turbo V6 diesel S type. Suffice to say the mpg ain't that great, but it'll easily pitch over 35-45mpg on a haul.

I love my S type. Everyone says it's an old codgers car, and they think it's weird cos I'm 27, but I love it. I originally bought it off my dad cos he's a jag nut, but it's great - and pretty reliable.

He's got a supercharged 4.2 V8 S Type R, now that is ridiculous on the fuel  be lucky to get 280 miles to the tank in that.

I have a five month old daughter and whilst she loves it in the front seat with 3 people the GTV is impractical but I am still hanging on to it...

For what it's worth I have had to buy another car and considered a Jag so borrowed a 3.0v6 s type (auto) on a 54 plate for a few weeks and it was averaging around 27mpg.

I always thought of them as old codgers cars (and still do), but quite enjoyed driving it as the overall feel of the car and cabin layout meant it was a relaxed drive and made think what's the rush. I just couldn't submit at the age of 35....

I now have a manual BMW E60 530i (straight six) on a 54 plate which averages 29mpg but is a fantastic drive and as comfortable as you like and doesn't feel like an old codgers bus...

I am now at the stage where the GTV is not really worth selling as it worth more to me as a second car than the £3k or so I could hope to get for it... and the GTV makes me smile everytime the engine is warm and I am alone on the open road :)

Hi,

I reckon about 2-2.5k

It sounds daft, but the one thing that would put me right off are the generic tyres on the back. If im buying a 'serious' or toy car that has a reputation for needing looking after a set of 4 matching half-decent tyres are one of the things that tells me the owner hasnt scrimped.

Just an idea....

Yep, tyres will be replaced on the back, they have less grip than the conti's and were what originally came with the alloys! As for pics:
