Yesterday early evening I'm going north on the outside lane of the M3 when suddenly all the lights went out and the engine died too! I got over to the hard shoulder and found that the hazards, radio and interior lights still worked, everything else dead. As the road is not lit the driver following me had the presence of mind to stay behind me and followed me across the lanes before he carried on his way.
The AA arrived and he checked the big fuse by the battery then fiddled with the fuses on the other side of the boot. He did'nt change anything. The car started and everything is now working normally. He followed me the last few miles home which was good of him.
Any advice on what I should do to avoid this happening again. I'll renew the fuses but not sure what else.
