ok, spoke to Mike, expressed I was ****ed in a calm manor, he was just as ****ed to be fair. He sounded genuinely gutted that this has happened and is ordering in replacement parts to get it sorted, back with him on Friday so he will have it over the weekend. he also thinks its the tensioner based on the explanation I gave.
I want to make it clear that this post was never a judgement on Mikes character, he has always been polite and helpful and if you let him know there is a problem he resolves them. but saying this there are no excuses for leaving bolts out, especially when this is a job you have done many many times. Any cam belt job should be checked, checked again and triple checked to make sure everything is right. Fair enough the tensioner is well and truly out of his control but correct re-fitment of bolts are, and leaves the customer with many questions, 'are the rest of the bolts in there and to correct torque?' etc etc.
anyway, lesson learnt for me, just because someone is highly recommended and a specialist, always check the work that has been carried out, after all we are all human and all make mistakes from time to time..this is how we learn and makes us human.
