I got one sitting in the shed which came with the car. Looks like the old owner couldn't be bothered to clean it as its filthy. There is a K&N on there at the moment.
I am considering going back to sock airbox though. I anyone concerned about the quality of filtration with these free flow filters??? From what I read there appears to be no difference in performance with the freeflow , just induction roar. Coupled with the oil on the Maf issue, the cleaning and reoiling of the filter, is it worth it?? I look how dirty standard paper elements can get and I wonder whether a thin oiled cotton gauze is sufficient to catch all of the dirt. With the cost of rebuilding the engine outweighing the cost of the car, is this the right way to go??
Just playing devils advocate here and happy to be shot down.
