V6 engine - powder coating, chroming or polishing?
I spent a good few hours over the weekend stripping the top end of my grubby, manky engine so I could get the parts tarted up.
The rest of the car is now farily/very good but the sight when you open the bonnet is not good!
I've removed the cam covers, inlet (plenum) casting, inlet (chrome) pipes and the lower inlet manifold along with the fuel rails, injectors and wiring. I've also removed a good few brackets and metal panels.
Its my intention to either blast and paint with aluminium paint (I can do that myself) or get them powder coated or possibly chromed.
I've had a quote for the chroming of the front coil pack cover of £60 and £80 for the plenum chamber (part with 24V V6 on it).
I also asked about the price of re-chromng the intake pipes as they are a little pitted (but not too bad at all) £150! I'll manage with those then...
I could then blast and paint the cam covers and the lower inlet manifolds. Still not sure about the fuel rails though.
I know this may seem a little over the top but I'm intending to attend a good few shows this year (and to a little sprinting) and it would be nice if the engine looked as good as the rest.
What do you recon?
