GTV V6 CV boot split -ok to drive?

The outboard CV boot on my GTV V6 has split and looks like the grease may have come out but is not all over the driveshaft or brakes. Obviously i will sort it ASAP but can i drive it any distance at all ?

Providing that you go slow on a clean road with dry weather, you don't want to get any ****e in there! Don't panic too much, you'd be surprised how many people drive without knowing the gaiter's split and spat the grease all over the place!

The split cv boot can eventually cause the joint to wear prematurely cos of lack of grease but this takes some time. Its always amazed me that on an mot test a car can fail for having a small split in the cv gaitor but the cv joints can sound like a sub machine gun but not fail.
