GTV 3.0 V6 Lusso

GTV bonnet paintwork bubbling.

I have a silver GTV. Either side of the front grille on the bonnet, there are 3 or 4 small bubbles which have been there since purchased. I imagine this means that it may have been re-sprayed at some point and moisture had been trapped during the process.

Is this common to fibreglass body work maybe? Anyone else had similar problems?
What have people paid for a bonnet re-spray?

The gtv bonnet is very big try collecting one seperately you need a large van!! My point being it needs a lot of paint. Painting one could be expensive but if its only blistered locally at the front its possible it may just need attention to the local area although the whole bonnet may need laquering. If the blistering is caused by water in the air supply during its previous repaint i would be inclined to wait till the summer before correcting the problem as it could blister elsewhere over a period of time.Ive seen cars where its taken 2 years for microblisters to show because of water in the paint.

I had this problem in my blue Spider V6 I bought from new in 2001, when it was about 18 months old, blisters started to appear, it was resprayed under warranty, but re-appeared about 2 years later, unfortunately Alfa UK refused to fix it again, because the car was an import. I did not get it done and a lot of the paint has since peeled off the front of the bonnet (the car is now off the road with an expired engine). However, my local independent body shop are confident they could prepare the bonnet, sealing the composite material, so it would not blister again.
