What Battery

Now then - I have had a few issues with the battery getting low on juice and am thinking that it might be time for a new one...

Anyone got any good or bad experiences on batteries that they want to share?

Any thoughs appreciated...

Choose a Bosch (from the Batteries on Line link from 147dav's comment) or Varta battery for quality and specification (its the same battery joint owned company for Bosch and Varta).

If looking to buy from other sources be careful of recommended battery listings. More than a few retailers recommend smaller capacity batteries (Ah and cold cranking performance) to appear cheaper. Get the best Ah and cold cranking performance specification you can get. Check the physical size also.

If you still have an original Alfa (Exide possibly?) battery it is almost certainly due to be replaced. Also if its noticably slower in cranking the starter at low temperatures change it sooner rather than later.

I got one from performancebatteries.co.uk last year for under 50 delivered. Came with a 4 year warranty and when it failed they sent a new one without too much hassle.

tayna.co.uk are also pretty good, excellent choice of decent brands, much cheaper than halfords.
