Throttle body

On my PH1 2.0lTS there is a small black plastic thingy on top of the throttle body. It has an electrical connector and moving internal parts. It seems in some way to bypass air round the throttle butterfly. What is it? I had idling problems ( well it wouldn't idle!) and removed this and filled it with carbcleaner then blew it out with air line. The car now does idle but too fast! What is it ..have i damaged it i wonder!

On my old ph1 twinspark when i had 'idle' issues i used to give the control valve a light sharp tap with a metallic object and it worked perfectly..

GTV twinspark

Theres not much inside to damage, theres an electromagnet and a rotating bit that lets more or less air flow through it depending on how the rotating bit is positioned.

Take it back off and rotate the rotaty bit (i`m sure it has a proper name..) Othewise check for air leaks and anything you forget to reconnect...
