Er, this is an Alfa Romeo Forum, if you hadn't noticed, so I would tread carefully when you come out with comments like that

I did learn on a Ford Escort Mk1, way back in the 70s (it was white) and I agree it did go very well and the handling was good. I've owned several other marques since and indeed all my family (including my wife) drive German machines. Astonishingly I have six sister's-in-law and I usually get to drive at some time or another an array of BMW and Audi machinery, some of them quite enjoyable

Then when I get assgnments abroad (especially the Middle East) I get to drive enormous Jap 4x4 beasts with large engines - not very interesting but safe. Sometimes I get to play with a couple of extremely fast cars if my Arab friends allow me to. I spent most of the 90s in Riyadh and in that time got to drive a very large array of machinery both extremely boring and extremely interesting.

I won't mention the drives in the States as, apart from the geography, was not very interesting

My profile may be 'predictable' but 'blinkered' I am not. As I say, be careful what you say, next time I shall not be so generous
