GTV 2.0Lt Coolant/thermostat change

Hi All,

Well the cold snap has finally made me sort out my slow thermo, and thrown up a few questions.

1) Can I use both and early and late type thermostats in a phase 1 GTV (1997)

2) Is Comma Xstream G48 Glysantin anti freeze O.K. to use, (it`s green in colour)

3) I intend to change all the coolant. Straight water or de-ionised water?

4) Is the cooling system self bleeding or are there bleed screws I need to know about.

5) I`ve done loads of coolant changes on other cars, but never a GTV. Anything else I should know about?

Thanks people,

The G48 only has a 3-year life, so will need changing again quite soon.

There are two patterns of thermostat. One has a cranked pipe underneath, mine has a tee-piece. Check before you buy a replacement.

Not bothered about the 3yr thing as I like to change the coolant regularly, and have now checked that both units are the same.

Thanks lads,
