Now, I think this is being caused by a cord that has snapped and is not pulling the hood tight when it's down. The cord has a large spring on one end (pic 1) and have shown where the other end attaches in pics 2 & 3
Now this bit I need to clarify.....does this cord go through an eyelet. This eyelet I have shown in the next pictures. The second picture shows the location of both ends of the snapped cord and the eyelet in relation to each other.
Please can someone take a look at their hood and confirm if this is the case, and if it does can you possibly take some pics showing where the cord is threaded through the mechanism at the spring end.
One other thing I noticed, a couple inches in on the rubber strip I seem to have about 3/4 of an inch gap in the rubber strip itself. As you can see I tried to tape this up thinking this may have been the original cause of the water getting in.....but it has made no difference....does anyone else also have this gap in their rubber strip ?
Would really appreciate anyone's help on this as it's doing my head in, thanks
I'll take a look at the weekend if you still need help.
Best of luck!!
Thanks Andy. I looked again earlier and there is more daylight than that shown in the first post. I did make a temporary fix earlier with a boot lace and even though it was as tight as I could get it this still did not pull in the hood and could still see daylight
Maybe this isn't where the water is getting in as the passenger side is just the same
This is the thread I previously posted about my leak: http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/alfa-...lp-needed.html - this bit of carpet is getting wet as the carpet the other side of the "vertical wall" is wet and it spreads through to here. Also get a small pool of water under the roof hydraulic strut that side, and also some under the battery tray.
Surely I can't be the only Spider that's had this issue ?
I've had the same issue with the cord on mine: I replaced it and it's fine even if not as good as the other side but needs adjusting. However I only had more noise while driving but no water.
To understand where the cord is going, just look at the other side, it's what I did
I'll look at mine but I don't think I've got any gaps between the hood cover and the hood frame
