Sorry to hijack this thread but I'd like to fit ET 35 wheels to the GTV, staggered fitment amazingly beautiful wheels. The fronts will NEVER clear the calipers. I'd need at least 15mm spacers.
Will I have to space the rears as well? The rims are 8.5J front and rear, so at which point would they touch the fenders?
Unfortunately I think this is a 'suck it & see' situation.
It depends on a lot of variables; ET, inner spoke shape(for fronts), rim diameter & width, tyre size/shape, state of springs/shocks/bump stops, lowered or std springs?
Depending on the above (especially your choice of tyre width & profile/height) you might already touch the inner arch on compression.
You don't say what diameter but for the rear with ET35 & 8.5J you are already 8mm further out(-4.5 + 12.5 = 8) than a std 7.5J with an ET of 30.5.
I suspect it will clear if you have good shocks with good std springs & bump stops in place, but with 15mm spacers?????!
I'd try a few different size spacers on the rear until it rubs & then revert to the size that clears.
Contrary to what others might think, the car will drive fine with the fronts spaced & the rears not. Plus it won't look odd as the wheels are wider anyway.
Edit: You say staggered fitment front & rear, I thought this meant different ET fr & rr?
