Constant hot air in cabin

I'm still trying to work through why i am getting continual hot air in the cabin of my gtv and hopefully someone can help.
I've tested air con related issues and it is not that. They are all working fine. This leads me to the flap that controls hot and cold air which ( reading other threads) is located (i think) under the dash behind glovebox. (rh drive). My questions are:
1. There seems to be a couple of flaps - can someone point me to the correct one that controls hot/cold air ( i gather being a phase 2 this is controlled by a motor)
2. Do i have to remove dash to get to the motor and flap?
3. What has been the outcome of anyone with a problem with these. Oil the flap? text the motor or will i need to replace it?
And finally - before this happened i had let my battery go flat so i removed it, charged it and replaced it in car - would this have something to do with it? It is possible that i have upset the ecu settings. Could need to get diagnostic tool check over it?
Appreciate any thoughts on what i should do. Regards, David
