Just realised, you're a V6 which doesn't change the diagnosis but means I don't know exactly where the sensor is. I'll try to have a look through the book of words later. Yes, its the same thing, crank sensor, TDC sensor, rev sensor. Fundamentally very simple, it "pings" every time the crank or flywheel passes a set point. From this, the ECU can work out when it should fire everything. Simple device but without it the computer has no chance.
I have a vague memory that it was only a tenner or something from a dealer and I doub't if V6 is much different.
