Vague steering and off centre steering wheel!!!
My V6 Spider is finally back on the road after a approximately 18 month lay-up due to a broken cambelt. I drove her last night and the steering feels very vague and imprecise.
The steering wheel is also off centre which doesnt help. While the cambelt damage was being repaired the folks who did the work had the driver's side CV joint replaced. When I got the car back the steering wheel was badly off centre and the alignment was out. No doubt due to the fact that they didn't reset the alignment etc when they replaced the CV joint. I have now had the alignment corrected but the steering still feels vague and the steering wheel is still slightly off centre.
Any clues as to what i should check first. Could it be poor alignment, tracking, camber or toe-in or is it possibly perished bushes due to the lay-up???
The steering is vague to the point where my '08 Mk.1 Ford Ka has better steering feedback/response.
I am really not keen to spend too much more money at the moment so I'm really hoping this will be a cheap fix.
The handling still feels resonably good it's just the steering that doesnt inspire confidence.
