Hi I have tested with HID on the GTV because we have many dark roads here in Sweden that is sometimes crossed by mooses and the likes, however, no polar bears as many Americans I have met seem to think
, so in particular the dip beam which is really lousy
on the GTV I felt a necessary for to upgrade.
I have attached some before and after pictures so that you can compare the difference, and as I sees it the dip beam did improved a lot, with the halogen lamps the light was so bad that the camera could not focus properly.
With the high beam there were several problems, firstly it takes for long time for them to
be heated so that they starts to emit any light and secondly it looks that the bulb is out
of focal point of the reflector (which is not a problem with the dip beam projector headlamps), so despite lots of light the beam pattern is weird and I think that the light on the road is worse then the light emited with standard halogen bulb, imo so do the halogen bulb light up the road in a better manner.
A small update, as I think that HID update of the high beam do not work, so I removed them and replaced them with Philips X-tremePower 65W (which Philips claims will give 80% more light compared wiht standard bulbs), and the HID 55W are mounted in the dipped beam so that I could see if they made any difference, so two new pictures to compare with.
Hope this can be of any interest.
