Car wont start after being parked on a slope!

Hi Guys,

Recently my '98 spider has been playing silly buggers

Twice this week it has failed to start after it had been parked on a small vertical slope (sloping towards the engine.) I had about 15quid worth of fuel in the tank but I have managed to get it started by topping the fuel up with a jerry can.

I am no expert when it comes to mechanics but someone mentioned to me that it could be the fuel filter causing the problem.

Any thoughts?

How do I know if the fuel filter needs changing? I have only had the car a few months and know little about the service history. (Although the dodgy guy that sold me it told me had had given it a full service himself....which I now doubt)

I dont know if its worth mentioning this but I filled the tank up to the top for the first time a couple of weeks ago.....could this cause all the crap from the top of the tank to get into the rest of the system?

Any advice is much appreciated

I've never had this problem on car, but have had similar with bikes. In those cases it was the fuel supply.
It could be as you say. dirt/**** etc, so I'd have to agree that filter/pump would be a place to start with your diagnosis.
Sorry I can be of more help......

The train :(

I'd be surprised if filling up the tank causes the issue. I do this almost every week and have never experienced the sort of issue that you have described.
